ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lexi's imagination runs wild …sort of like a starving cat at a sushi buffet. Okay maybe not that bad but you get the picture. This is a good thing when she channels her energy into creating fresh, fun paranormal stories.

Lexi graduated from UCLA with a degree in English. She also received a certificate in professional screenwriting from UCLA.

Fascinated by the supernatural realm, Lexi prefers to write stories that are out-of-the-ordinary.  At first, she wrote horror but that ended after she scared herself a few times and ran out of the room.  Convinced by an editor to focus on her witty sense of humor, sharp dialogue and unique voice, Lexi abandoned hard-edged horror and opted to write wickedly entertaining, humorous stories. This move landed her a multi-book deal with Pocket Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

Her debut novel, PRETTY EVIL, was released in October, 2005 to rave reviews and was nominated by The ROMANTIC TIMES BOOK CLUB for "Best First Novel, African American."

Though her approach is fun and light, PRETTY EVIL serves as a warning to all proclaimed “playas” who like to live fast, but dangerously. "You don't really know who or what you're taking home with you. One night of thrills could cost you a lot," warns Lexi Davis.

Her second book, THE AFTER WIFE, hit stores in early April, 2009, and already, fans and new readers are raving about the fast-paced, unique and light style of her writing.

As a writer, Lexi’s greatest fear is to bore an audience. With a debut novel as racy and “out of the box” as PRETTY EVIL, and a follow-up novel as uniquely crafted as THE AFTER WIFE, many readers feel Lexi Davis has nothing to worry about.

The youngest of four children, Lexi lives near her family in Southern California.

Questions & Answers with Author Lexi Davis
"Hey You! I Just Bought Your Book!"

Who is Lexi Davis?
Is this some sort of trick question? What if I get it wrong, then what?

What do you want people to call you?
They can call me "Lex."  They can call me "Lexi D."  They can call me “Hey You! I just bought your book!“   I prefer the last one.

Why supernatural?  Why did you choose this genre?
I've had some "spooky" things happen to me and they started early in life. I still think  I'm being followed. …What's that noise? Did you hear that?

What makes you tick?
That's not me; that's my Rolex.

You seem like you love to laugh, have fun?  Is that true?  Why?
      Life's short.

What gets you down?
      Public restrooms. Liars.

Did you ever think that you would do THIS?  (write a novel)
      Yes, absolutely.

What are your thoughts on the literary industry?
I tend not to spend much time trying to analyze, forecast, summate, intellectualize or  otherwise give my "opinion" on the industry. I just  enjoy writing.

Do you have any advice/recommendations for other authors trying to get that breakout novel?
Yeah, nobody really knows what’s going to be a bestseller. So just write what puts a smile on your face. At the end of the day, you’re going to want to feel like you kept it real for you, that you wrote what's your passion. That should be your greatest reward. Define your own success.

How much of your characters are really YOU????
They're ALL me, every last one of them—the good, the bad and the cosmetically challenged.   :-)

What's next for you professionally?
When it comes to my creativity, the sky's the limit. I may choose to express myself in novels, screenplays, multi-media, who knows? No boundaries for me.

"Pretty Evil has a complex, hysterical and progressive plot that will take the reader on a pleasurable joy ride. It proves to be original in its content and very well written."
